Haunted House

A Story by CoraRose
"

The walk though!

"
Standing outside the door I waited with the crowd everyone filled with
apprehensive anticipation to be let in.  Finally, the door creaked slowly open.  The
smell of formaldehyde and fog rolled out of the dimly illuminated entrance.  "You
may enter," the caretaker said with a creepy tone and devious sneer.  I stepped in
slowly, carefully placing my feet, keenly aware of my surroundings.  On my right is
an open black casket and in it lay a pale man with black slicked back hair and
smelled of the dark velvet roses that lay across his casket.  To the left of me is a
prisoner in shackles with her hands pulled above her head.  Her clothes tethered and
covered in blood.  She let out small painful whimpers.  Suddenly, the man in the casket
raised up opening his eyes and mouth wide, revealing red pupils and fan teeth that
were stained in blood.

Screams filled the room as the mob pushed forward faster.  The rooms light dimmed even
more as the sounds of chains rattled.  Screams of horror called out while
the evil laughs revealed their joy in absorbing the fear emitted from their victims.
The reflecting light shimmered in the pools of blood that flowed near our feet as
desperate hands reached out and the cries of their despair pierced my ears.  We
advanced further now in a pitch black room the temperature dropped as a cold
breeze slowly descended upon us.

My heart was trampling my chest with pounding beats.  Something was hanging
lightly over our heads.  The sound of wispy winds and scowling cries sounded in
the room. The hair on my neck raised, chill bumps covered my skin, as my fear
escalated an my tensions heightened.  Again, there was another gnashing scream.
The crowd followed in sync with frightening cries and deafening squalls as we
advanced forward with a vehement suspicion of the unknown.  The light slowly
increased revealing more sights of horror.  The squalling of drills and saws revved
up as hideous creatures anxiously reached out to grab their next victim from the
crowd; each of us attempting to cower behind the other, willing to sacrifice our
fellow mate.

My distraction from the murderous saws ended abruptly when my wrist was
grabbed.  I jerked my hand, frantically breaking free while turning my head coming
face to face with a repulsive zombie.  His evil solid white eyes glared down at me
as he gave me a devilish grin of doom.  To my relief the mob shoved me forward
toward the brighten light.  The exit was at hand but suddenly the floor dropped, my
stomach knotted as my arms reached out for support.  The crack in the floor opened
to a pit of hissing snakes, squalling beetles, scorpions, and tarantulas.  With the
door in sight the horde of people leaped onto the raised floor in front of us and
quickly exited the horrifying building that we previously, had all anxiously awaited
to enter.
