Diamond Irises

Diamond Irises

A Poem by D.

So it seems when the world becomes a murky cloud:
When civilizations beyond ours laugh at our own,
Assaults and harassment seep through the cracks,
Human traffic marches fiercely in the largest cities,
Civil rest becomes shackled with barbed wire,
When mothers fear walking the street,
And members of faiths become filled with hatred-

Your pulse runs steadily through my hands,
And your diamond irises pierce my soul,
Reviving a surge of hope deep within me.
