Desolate

Man faces eternity alone

I walk along the streets of cobble stone,
Buildings turned to rubble, nothing left but ashes and bones
Earth scorched where fires blazed,
The endless torture that lasted for days,
I walk alone, no light in sight,
With Darkness only the beginning, rebirth of a new night,
The stars alligned and fate was sealed,
These would be wounds that would never heal,
I was only a mortal man, taken over by greed and lust,
Now everything I loved has turned to ash and dust,
I prayed to the heavens above, asking why this tragedy took place,
Why did all of this have to be erased,
Memories of my past overload the senses in my brain,
I walk alone in this desolate place where only the misery remains,
Is this my Hell?, Was I so wrong to want more?,
I may never know the reason but I won't be knocking on heaven's door,
I'll walk alone, trapped inside my head,
Hopeful to find a way to be released from this dread.

This poem is quite good. I love the theme of Decay that is an ever present threat. Well done. Although you have some spelling errors. ;)
