Quiet Please

Quiet Please

A Poem by D Connolly
"

The noise is getting to me today

"

The noise of day to day life

It gets to be so constant that we don’t recognize it as clutter

That fills our mind and heart

We need quiet please

When ideas can’t flow freely

And sleep won’t come as naturally

And the fear of what we’re missing fills us with dread

We need quiet please

Turn off the radio and phone

Unplug the gadgets and

Still our souls

We need quiet please

Throw away your television and enjoy the silence. I just got back from a city break and now I'm home its like life has been put on mute. All toasty in my penguin onesie and slippers, it's like instantly losing 20 pounds 😀
Pull up a chair and help yourself to a delicious glass of silence. 😀

'Quiet Please'
D connolly,
This has a pleasant melodic feel. It reads like a melody, an invitation to enter a place of inner rest. All I can say is thanks for the reminder; "We need quiet please.'
I agree that noise is all around us and it does affect the inner sanctuary of our lives. solitude is where I need to be far more often.
Blessings to you!
Kathy

First, I was thinking this should be written on a library wall.
Then, I was thinking this should be written across the sky.
Now, I'm thinking I'll just stop typing, and go and be quiet.

I am easily noise-irritated, after living alone in the wilderness for 10 years. It drives me crazy how people come out here to occasionally visit their vacation homes & all they do is let their power tools, guns, & 4-wheelers ROAR . . . that's their idea of a weekend getaway in this gorgeous spot! Your grouchiness comes across loud & clear! Love your way of having something definite to say in your poems (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Hi Jacob
Quiet...silence...blessed silence. Hard to think with all the yammering going on. Maybe that's why writers tend to produce their best stuff in the early hours.

A good write, Dani.
