Touch

Touch

A Poem by Dan in TSC
"

Spat out in a rush late one night sitting by a fire while feeling a little sorry for myself!

"

Touch

Closeness

Physical Connection

Hand-In-Hand

Head-On-Chest

Rise-and-Fall

Warmth

Shared Blankets

Snuggles

Your Hair In My Mouth

These are the things I am missing this week

Of all of the feelings I’ve missed & craved over the last few years

when these are the things that flood my body and mind

it is the hardest of times to get through

There is no replacing them

no photos

no memories to slink myself into

No phantom feelings that soothe the ache

not a single word I can put on the page to mitigate the emptiness that is

Touch

It’s just gone

And I’m alone

Carving the simplest of desire

With no hope of relief

Grief is a long journey. I am sorry for your loss. Your poem touched me greatly on an emotional level. It’s relatable to anyone who has experienced the death of someone much loved. There is such a void left in their wake.

Losing a loved one is so final. There is no hope left thereafter. That touch is gone forever. Never to return. We are left with ourselves and our grief. Perhaps, words poured out on a page make it better. A poem that moves me so.

Sorry for your loss. May God give you peace and strength in your hard times. Love will stay, memory will stay, some days will be gray.
A touching poem.

Thank you Sami. Some days are indeed gray, but the sun will always rise.

Thank you Julie. I do from time to time "feel" her close, but it is never the same. I also believe .. read more
The best advice I can give you, Dan, is to give yourself time to grieve. Writing can be such a great catharsis when we're in pain and struggling to get back to life as we knew it to be. It's cliche, I know, but your heart will mend. Many blessings to you and your girls.
