Jack: “How many times a day do you utter the word ‘okay’?”

Jill“I have no idea, never thought about it. Lots, I guess. Why?”

Jack: “I read that it’s the most frequently spoken word on the planet.”

Jill: "Funny little word. I wonder where it comes from.”

.   .   .

Jack: “An abbreviation-fad among journalists in 1800's Boston.” They were trying to outdo each other with inventions like NG, No Go, and SP, Small Potatoes. OK, for All Correct, won.”

Jill: “ … Oooh kaaay? That makes no sense.”

Jack: Back then, All was spelled O-L-L, and the K came later, from President Van Buren.”

.   .   .

Jill: “ … But, there’s no K in Van Buren.”

Jack: “His nickname was Old Kinderhook. Vote for OK was his election slogan.”

Jill: “What’s Old Kinderhook famous for? Other than that, I mean.”

Jack: “Mostly for being an SP. His second election campaign was an NG.”
