3-Act Play in 12 Lines

Jack: “Do you ever wonder Why?”

Jill: “Why what?”

Jack: “You know, the big why? life’s Why?”

Jill: “No, not since I heard the folktale about the philosophy prof and the A student.”

Jack: “Tell it to me.”

Jill: “He gave his students an exam with one question on it …Why?”

Jack: “ … Just that one word--Why?”

Jill: “Yes, and everyone feverishly began writing, filling pages, except one student.”

Jack: “What did that student do?”

Jill: “That unassuming undergraduate scribbled one word, got up and turned the exam in.”

Jack: “What was the one word?”

Jill: “‘Because.’”
