Reciprocity ...

Reciprocity ...

A Poem by Dylan Macadham
"

A Verse in 10 Lines

"

Sending Words

 out into the World

in hopes of Reciprocity,

Is a subject to me

of much Curiosity.

What drives authors

in their Pursuit?

A longing to Share?

Or simply a need

of a horn to Toot?

This is a thought provoking piece that does ask a legitimate question. Only the individual could answer it though how honest an answer depends on them. But one could probably surmise by the content of the writer as well as the engagement to the comments on their work. Some could simply do it for the love of art, others for the adoration, and some a little of both. For me personally it helps with my depression and brings some clarity to my thoughts. And I would like to think I could write something helpful and meaningful in someone's life. The kind comments are nice but for me hearing someone say "thank you for this writing that really resonates with me", to me that means the world. Good poem Dylan and it's an important question we have to ask of ourselves.

I can remember the first time I posted a poem. It took courage. You never know the responses you are likely to get. Why do I write? Compelled, driven by the unknown :) It's nice to get responses from like minded souls.
