Allergies: Latex

Allergies: Latex

A Poem by Sarah Jane

I didn't know I would react
Not the first filling visit
And with what felt like eight
Carefully covered hands
Busy tugging, stretching,
Sucking, wiping,
Consoling
You could imagine, even understand
The simple distraction
But surely enough, settled at home
An ominous blister announces itself
Awaking anger and discipline.
With all my time to think about it
I'll tell you my lesson learned.
Sometimes the choices deemed best
Hurt the worst.

No worries, these delicate days
With needed time to grow up
I can handle those hands
And all their pulling.
