Restless

Restless

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Sleep pads my eyelids,
Cushions my voice,
Blankets my thoughts
Until they are thick and
Lined with a hazy fog.

Laden with chaos
I lay here awake.
Burdened by the broken
Figments of my vivid
Imagination.

One by one, my lashes
Stitch themselves.
Blinking out the blinding
Connections
That keep me rooted
To my sheets.

Soon I'll be shifting
Between scenes
Of understanding
And confusion,
Hoping in a few hours
I'll be fresh.

I used to mock restlessness until I became the prisoner of this feeling. All go through yet all can't express. A good sleep is priceless and rare while melancholy surrounds us. Most of your stanzas are relatable! Hope you are in joy soon♡

I so connect with your words Sarah - nothing worse than struggling to find sleep in a fog of confusing thoughts. I really enjoyed the tossing and turning you created :)
