Better Than Most

Better Than Most

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Can you smell it?
The scent of my infractions
Minute particles wafting between us
I watch your nose flare,
Acknowledgement of my fragility.
Announcing a crisp breeze
Stole the odor,
You smile at my questions.
I can feel them from here,
The curving of your amusement.
The shaping of your knowledge.
Your will to continue
Something so pungent
So permeating.
Can they smell it?
Onlookers, witnesses.
Does our aroma have color, hue?
It is beautiful?
You would know.
