You Misunderstand Me

You Misunderstand Me

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Shrouded in secrets
That I do not commit to sending
Maintaining that you are the mystery
As if reading some poetry
Makes me the transparent one.
Understand.
I do not disappear as easily.

Honesty is a one way street
Riddled with waiting and riddles.
Decoding your encryptions have
Become an obsession.
Searching for the key has
Become a pastime.
Understand.

I, too, am an enigma.

I have not seen you around (I've been sketchy) & I found this in my reading library, which reminded me of you & your writing, which I have enjoyed. You describe the way I used to be in my youth, always so concerned about whether I was being understood or whether I was understanding the other person, etc. I used to always want to be a writer becuz I wanted to be understood. Guess what? I'm a writer now & people still misunderstand me all the time! Even tho it's human nature to want to be understood, eventually we need to stop worrying about it & just live life in the moment. I love how your poem shows human nature realistically (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
