Honour Thy Father and Thy Mother

Honour Thy Father and Thy Mother

A Poem by Sarah Jane

A parasite, predator, and a preacher
Walk into a bar
One is looking for false redemption
One for the source of their obsession
And one for spiritual validation

The parasite has found a new host
The predator drinks to familiar oblivion
And the preacher doesnt see it coming

What good is the good word now?

I love how you leave your provocative riddle open-ended . . . the way these 3 people/goals line up, the correlation may be obvious to some, but I found it fun to try on each scenario for each one & ponder the possibilities! In the end, I feel the disillusionment that many feel to watch how the religious right supports politicians & policies that seem downright unChristian! But your poem does not come off as being political . . . that's just my interpretation & the way my mind runs! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
