Weathering the Storm

Weathering the Storm

A Poem by Calvin Warden II

I found you sitting alone in the rain
As you were pretending not to cry
The rain washing the tears away
But not removing the pain in your eyes
I offer you a hand to help you up
But you turn me down for now
You are comfortable in the rain
Hiding yourself from the world's
You tell me you're happy where you are
But I know you're suffering in pain
I realize that you made yourself weak
To weary to move but not to speak
So I sit next to you in this down pour
And I lend to you my strength
A smile now begins slowly show
And I whisper oh so softly to you
There's a reason I'm in the rain too
