Cruelty of Fate

Cruelty of Fate

A Poem by Chelsea Schermerhorn
"

I actually want to write a novel around this piece, kinda based on my life.

"

There’s a beacon of hope

In this cruel, dark world

A ray of light

Illuminating my soul

But surely, it cannot be real.

It must be a dream

A passing fancy

That will leave me colder

Than I was before

To face the world alone

Life is so painful

Filled with anguish

Grief and strife

It’s so hard to keep on going

It seems it would be better if you die.

But the dream lives on

Through the pain

It’s still there

Bringing hope to your heart

But can it last?

It continues on

Through tear after tear

And is constantly there

To lift you back up.

But can the dream stand against the cruelty of Fate?

"But can the dream stand against the cruelty of Fate?

Equally, can fate stand against the cruelty of dreams?
