Best of Friends

Best of Friends

A Poem by Daisy Red
"

Two girls become best friends

"

Two girls who just met

Would be playing without a safety net

One tall and dark, the other fair

Didn’t know what it meant to care

All they knew was they had each other

She had to be there for her and not another

People didn’t think it would last

But no one knew the past

All through grade school and countless toys

Even when it was time for boys

They stuck together and made it through

People who didn’t know them saw them as a pair too

It didn’t make sense to anyone in town

How could those two girls laugh and dance around

One being dark, the other light

People would think that couldn’t be right

So one night when both slept

People of the town went in and crept

Around the fair one’s bed and took her away

Still not knowing who she was to this day

The other searched and searched and cried out “Jen”

Sadly realizing she would never see her sister again
