Puzzle Piece

Puzzle Piece

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

Look at me.
I am a
Puzzle piece.

There is no one
That fits
My unique shape
And size.

There is no
Perfect match,
My beauty
Is all mine.

Look at me.
I am a
Puzzle piece.

I am supposed
To fit in,
But I never
Had the time.

I was too busy
Singing,
Making up
My rhymes.

Look at me.
I am a
Puzzle piece.

I don't fit
With anyone.
And I love
To be different.

It means
I have
More fun!

Look at me.
I am a
Puzzle piece.

There is no one
That fits
My unique shape
And size.

There is no
Perfect match,
My beauty
Is all mine.

Great poem! I liked how you repeated the first stanza all throughout the poem. It gave the poem a sing-songy feel and beautiful rhythm. I liked your idea as well; saying "I am a puzzle piece" created a different image in my head than saying "I am different." Your metaphor created a depth to the poem that I loved. Great write!
