Powder and paint

Powder and paint

A Poem by Danielle Searby

Delving into masked mortality.
Life becomes a welcome formality.
A lace corset, a slender femme.
A deluded dream, a waif.
Beauty becomes the ugly duckling.
Living with flashbulb pandering.
A satin sash, an eau du toilette.
A glossed lie, rouge.
The flawless is fake.
Size me up for a tressed up mistake.
A model beauty, a made up face.
An impossible ideal, atropy.
