Little Girl Rise

Little Girl Rise

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley
"

This poem was made as a follow up to "The Purging Stone" piece and to truly appreciate the meaning one should visit "The Purging Stone" first

"

** This piece  is the second half of an assignment from a journaling group Ive recently started attending. The first half of the assignment was on  "How the world  accepted or welcomed you between the ages of 1-5. I chose an already written piece  an essay  from my book  titled"The Purging Stone" normally I would have prepared something current to read but I felt the piece was  exactly what I wanted to say..and the second half  of the assignment was the antidote to that which for  me  I delivered in the form of  a poem  titled  "Little Girl Rise"  But in order to appreciate the agenda of this  piece I   strongly suggest reading "The Purging Stone"  first **

Little Girl Rise

Go find your place

and claim your right

to take up space

Little Girl Rise

It's okay to dance

even if

you don't know all the steps

Don't shy away

In case it should show

You're allowed to make

them up as you go

You don't have to be perfect

You're allowed to be real

You're allowed to crumble

to fumble...

and spill

Little Girl Rise

And let the woman emerge

It's okay to jiggle

and wiggle

those curves

Little Girl Rise

It's not too late to find

All your pieces and pearls

You wasted on swine

Those Tinderbox charms

They ripped from your grasp

With every intended

and cruel attack

So Little Girl Rise

Lift up your eyes

Go find your life

And Take it back
