My WeaknessA Poem by Summer BlueLooking into those tiny little eyes. I see a reflection. I could see myself in you. Already feeling protective. I felt a connection that I could never bare to lose. So fragile, so innocent, and so new. Battling everything you had to. Wanting to be strong for you. Holding back the tears of feeling weak, I find myself praying for you. Waiting for answers. I am angry…I cry…I even miss you. I can’t live with myself if you don’t pull through. I convince myself of picturing you at age two. To give me some hope that I won’t lose you. As the call comes through. I begin to shake. Trying to be calm. But I am so afraid to hear that I lost you. For a moment I lost my breathe. Thought you did too. When she said, “he did it”! He is a fighter like you! He did it Pappy! He made it through! All these emotions flowed through my body at once. It was then I felt my first real weakness. Now I know someday you will feel it too. “Baby boy” … “Pappy’s weakness is YOU”! © 2010 Summer BlueAuthor's Note
