The Egoist

The Egoist

A Poem by David Darabian
"

Despite todays media coverage people still tend to avert their eyes from the misery of others and focus solely on the prosperity of their wealth and vanity.

"

My crib

My room

My car

My house

My spouse

My kids

My farm

My life

My memories

Your pain

Your grief

Your loss

Your hunger

Your thirst

Your needs

Your misery

Your fate

Your death

Beautiful write, the dissimilarity between the me and you stanzas is indeed quite powerful, and definitely bring the meaning home. Simple, elegant, and wise! Awesome job

I appreciate the sentiment behind this piece and the picture fits it perfectly. Good LORD, who is that guy? Anyway, it's very short but speaks volumes for the attitudes of people lately.

Short but not that sweet, of course, and shouted out the meaning loud enough to listen. This poem of yours just reminded me of the song "the World is not Enough" by Garbage. Well, not bad at all.

quirky, simple piece (not in a bad way) with a deeper, relevant meaning to the world we live. great poem!
