Shifting From Foot to Foot

Shifting From Foot to Foot

A Poem by Kristen Darian Marie Wiley
"

Just more feelings

"
From all the kids I knew,
Made up and so full of plans,
That said they would never live -
To see their middle age -
You'd think the world would be,
A much more empty place.

We all grew somehow,
Bent but alive.
Not everyone chased destruction,
Quite as hard as I did,
But for the grace of... well THE grace,
Did not go I.

Once you've been set on leaving,
How do you then make room to stay?
Life spent like a dinner guest,
Awkwardly standing in the doorway,
Holding his hat, unsure where to hang it.
Wondering if this is even the right house.
