Incarnation

Incarnation

A Poem by Megan Bradton
"

A terza-rima sonnet inspired by Jim Warren's art.

"

Incarnation

To gaze upon her, it’s simple to divine

That beneath her luminous ivory skin,

The spirits of tigress and woman combine.

Those eyes of cerulean display, deep within,

The heart of the roaring tiger, ready to fight,

And a will of steel in the set of her chin.

Perfection lies in the illusion of white,

But underneath the facade are stripes of black

That betray how desperately she needs might.

In the set of mouth and the stiffness of back,

She portrays to the world her determination

To succeed, and never lets the veneer crack.

But, too, there is a hidden aberration:

A lusty feline that purrs her temptation.
