Shattered Illusions

Shattered Illusions

A Poem by Dark Tower

Shattered Illusion

Waking from acold dream

Trapped in a heated nightmare

Into a world where I must tread carefully

Demons at every corner

Foes on every street

But the deepest and most deadly

Are those who are closest to me

Trust is no fragile object

But rather a sadistic monster

A parasitic creature

That feeds off the foolishness of man

I'm unfamiliar with this feeling

Feel wounded

But no amount of healing

Could ever still the pain

Tears stain my shirt

Like angry drops of rain

Falling from the storm skies

Of my darkened eyes

Fell victim to this hungry momster

And foolishly followed it into his hole

Now I'm trapped

As it slowly feeds away at my soul
