God Giveth and You Taketh

God Giveth and You Taketh

A Poem by Dark Tower

All Of Me I Give To You

Kiss me
Gently
On the cheek
On the lips
Step closer
I can barely stand when we kiss
And I might need something to grip

Am I dreaming?
Or do angels exist?
Why is this angel smiling at me?
Is this a trick?
I mean how could it be
That the embodiment of perfection
Would fall for a guy like me

Fate
Or is it destiny?
I'm not concerned
I will shatter the one
That tries to whisk you away from me.

I've been thinking a lot
About our first kiss
And whether or not
I could've done or said something differently
These thoughts keep plaguing me
Because I want nothing less than perfection for you
I don't care what it requires of me
I'd walk a lap around this earth
To pluck a single flower to place on your head
As long as the journey saw me back in your arms again
And when you're not here
I'll just close my eyes
And there you will be
An angel in my dreams

One day
I want you to look back
And say
Yes”
And accept the ring
Standing on an alter of love
Ready to give my heart away
Just to hear you say
That you take me as yours
To look past my flaws
And see something worth keeping

You're the Queen of my heart
A Queen and her kingdom
Should never part
You're that thought
In the back of my mind
That reminds me to breathe
Without you I couldn't live
All joy would leave
My life

My arms are around you
The priest says
We may kiss
And you once again
Blow me away
I don't let go
Our kiss just goes on
The crowd cheers
30 years later we're still going strong
House littered
With pictures of you, me and our son
Your hand in mine
You have always been my one.
