Whales

Whales

A Poem by Dark and Light
"

This should hopefully shed light on the plight of whales due to commercial whaling every day

"

Two whales swim in the sea

Peaceful

Calm

Blissful

Serene

Quiet

On the ship the captain sees them

He fills with elation

Knowing how much people will pay for their hde

He knows he can make big bucks

He readies his harpoon gun

The whales know of nothing

Nor of the other whales that inhabit this Earth

Nor of the hunter’s evil intentions

Thwoosh

The hunter is propelled backwards

The harpoon soars through the air

One of the whales see it

It is the last thing it will ever see

Its anguished moan pierces the lavish silence

The captain is giddy with glee

He jumps up and down

Running around

Happy as can be

The wounded whale was unlucky

It got hit in the wrong spot

Not it has to wait to slowly die

The whale is hoisted up on chains

It bellows

The other whale calls for it

No reply

Only a faint moan

The other whale calls again

Silence

The whale is then put on the deck

For i’s blubber

An endangered whale had to die

The covered story

Of the covered crime

Whaling
