Ch.1: The Attack

Ch.1: The Attack

A Chapter by Datherine100

It was a dismal night, as Katherine walked through the woods, taking a stroll. It had been a couple years since the last curse and her visit to the underworld. Since then, things had been peaceful. She hoped it would last, but she knew it was only a matter of time.

Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, sensing a presence. Then, a moment later, she saw someone she didn't recognize. That someone had red hair and had a demeanor that told Kat that she was older than she looked.

"You must be Katherine," she stated.

        "And you are?" Kat inquired.

"Aurora. You and I have someone in common," the vampiress replied. "Now, let's go."

Aurora was instantly in front of her, before putting a hand on her arm and walking her to somewhere.

"And who is that?" Kat asked, allowing Aurora to walk her somewhere.

"Elijah. This is mostly about him, but a little about Klaus."

"Well, if you're as crazy as you seem, I don't see Klaus ever getting back with you. He's changed a lot over the years," Kat commented, knowing that Klaus had mostly tamed the vicious part of himself. She knew that he'd wanted to be a good father to Hope.

Half an hour later, Aurora arrived in the tunnels. She then tied one of the doppelgänger's wrists to a pipe with a rope, before looking at her.

"Sure, Klaus and I will never be together again, considering he's gone, but I can still take my revenge out on you. Elijah didn't undo the compulsion when he used it for the first time. Because of that, we never got a chance. He deserves to be punished. You were with him for 538 years. That makes you the best person to hurt for what he did."

"That was centuries ago. Take it from me. Revenge dies hard," she replied. Then she had to ask her, "What do you mean by gone?"

"Klaus sacrificed himself to save Hope from The Hollow. And Elijah? Well, losing Hayley and not wanting to live without Klaus was enough. He chose to die with his brother. I still get my revenge, though. Dead or not, they will see what I'm doing. We both know that your precious Original will be watching in spirit," Aurora informed her, not caring that telling her that Elijah was dead would hurt her.

Kat kept her composure, but hearing that Elijah was dead devastated her. She was with Hook, but she would always love both Damon and Elijah. She'd walk through fire for both of them.

"Well, if you're going to seek your revenge on Elijah, why not start now," Kat replied, not showing the vampiress that Elijah's death pained her. She was always so good at masking her true feelings. Especially, around enemies. And that's what Aurora was.

"Gladly," she responded. She then approached the human.

As the vampire approached, Kat used her free hand to give her a magical migraine, hoping it would work. After all, a lot of older vampires had the ability to overcome magical migraines.

Aurora stopped, pain beginning in her head, but then she blocked it out. She then continued towards her.

"You think that'll stop me?" she growled.

"It was worth a shot," Kat said, now with both wrists free, allowing her to get to her feet.

At vamp speed, Aurora grabbed her, before tossing her a ways, which caused the human pain.

Aurora brought out a handgun, shooting her in the leg.

"You know, I was going to take my time, but I think I'll just get it over with right now."

Kat had been on her side when she'd received the leg wound. Now, she rolled onto her back, only to get shot again. This time, in the lower stomach.

The human sat up against a wall of the tunnels. Then she magically tossed her against a wall of the tunnel.

"Sure, you could take your revenge on Elijah by going after me, but human or not, you don't want to mess with me. Unlike the last time I was human, I actually have magic. And I know how to control it. That, and I actually have people that care this time."

Aurora landed against an opposite wall of the part of the tunnel Kat was, making her drop the gun a distance away, but Aurora got to her feet. Being a vampire had its perks.

"Now, who would care about someone that's caused a lot of misery, pain, and hatred to the world? I know your story. I know you're just as bad as any vampire," Aurora replied, as she began to approach.

"Well, I've got news for you. Just like Klaus, I've changed for the better," she informed the insane vampire.

Suddenly, as the vampire approached, Kat saw her present love show up, which made her assume that he'd probably realized that something had happened when she hadn't come home yet.

"You know, I'm a big advocate for revenge, but I think this surpasses vengeance," Hook commented.

Aurora turned around to see him. That's when, before she could say anything, Kat magically made a piece of wood stake her, killing her. Then Aurora fell to the ground, desiccated.

As Kat saw him heading over to her to help her, everything was starting to blur, which she knew was from her wounds Aurora had given her. She'd healed others before, but she didn't know if she could heal herself, so she decided that she'd just let the hospital do their thing, instead. Then, after that last thought, everything went black for her.

A few days later, she was discharged from the hospital, so she and Hook went to Granny's so she could get something to eat. After all, hospital food wasn't all that great. Then, after she'd eaten, they finally had a much needed chat.

"So, mind telling me what happened, Pierce?" Hook inquired of her, talking about the lady she'd killed a few days ago.

"If you're referring to a few days ago, Aurora somehow came to town and found me. I've never met her before, but she apparently, wanted revenge for what my ex, Elijah, did when he first learned that he could compel others. As she told me before I killed her, when she was human rather than an insane vampire, Elijah compelling her kept her and Klaus apart from each other. That's why she wanted her revenge. She also told me about what happened to Elijah and Klaus, but in her mind, they're still around as ghosts, which would mean that they'd be able to see what she was doing to me. Enough of Aurora, though. We have to be prepared. She was able to come to town, which means that if any of my enemies come to town, there's going to be trouble. You may be used to trouble, but you've never faced me as a vampire. You wouldn't know what you're up against with any of my enemies. Those that I turned into vampires, and even a hybrid at one point, are just like and even worst than me when I was a vampire. And then there's a vengeful werewolf out there, too. Even some witches that would like to make me pay. As a vampire, I was all the horrible parts. I ruined a lot of lives. If every enemy I've ever made comes to town, there may come a massacre, or at the very least, some killings."

"What do we do about these enemies of yours, then?" he inquired, knowing how she spoke of them meant that they had to be prepared for the worst.

"Everyone will have to learn to be on their guard and not to trust any strangers. And everyone will have to start drinking an herb called vervain so that no one can be compelled into doing anything. After that, it'll be mostly my responsibility. I created them. It's my job to put them down. It won't matter if there's a protection spell around the town or not, because they'll find a way in eventually," she replied to him.

After she told him that, they went home, but were ready to get the town ready for intruders, starting tomorrow.
