It was a dismal night, as a human Kat slowly got to her feet, having been injured by Kai. That's when she saw that she was in the tunnels. Then she saw Klaus, a salt circle around him, and him on his back on the ground. Having made her Traveler magic active, she could sense that there was a magical barrier around the circle.

"Klaus?" she called, as she slowly approached him. There'd been a time when she'd wanted him dead, but if he was dying now, she'd willingly save him. She's forgiven him on her deathbed, after all.

        "Katerina..."

She could tell from where she stood at the circle, he wasn't himself. Something was wrong. He'd never been one to stay in one place. And he wasn't moving much. She didn't need to be a vampire to know he was very weak.

About five minutes later, she was able to break the barrier and salt circle. She then went over and knelt at his side.

"Klaus," she called. She patted the side of his face, trying to keep him awake. "What's wrong with you?"

“Marcel’s venom was on the end of the sword Alistair stabbed me with,” he weakly informed her.

She assumed Marcel had made himself into a weapon if he had deadly venom now, but didn’t know anything since she’d died. One thing she knew though, was she had to keep him alive. With him on his deathbed, she was too weak to get him out of here. She needed his family. One with a cure for him. Another that could help her live.

She rested a hand on the side of his face.

“I need you to stay awake for me. I’d rescue you, but I’m not exactly strong enough.”

A moment after she told him that, a very familiar voice and heels were heard.

        "Bloody hell?"

        Kat looked at the blonde.

“I just escaped a prison world. I figured out how to break the spell, when I saw something was wrong. I don’t want him dead anymore,” she informed her. She then moved out of the way, before telling her, “Get him out of here. He said something about Marcel’s venom, a sword, and someone named Alistair. He needs a cure.”

After Katherine told her that, she blurred him out of there without another word.

Kat was able to get half a distance away from the circle, before her vision went blurry. She managed to get her shoulder up against the rock wall, attempting to use it to stay on her feet. She was nearly half way to the gate. She just had to get to the exit. Her human body was too weak though, and she ended up on the ground on her stomach.

After she’d gotten Nik to the penthouse and Freya was getting him cured, she headed back to the tunnels. She’d never liked her, but she didn’t wish to leave her for dead. Elijah might see it as a form of killing her. He loved Hayley, but he shared so much history with Katherine, she didn’t think he’d want to see her dead. So, she was doing this for Elijah. That, and she’d helped save Klaus by keeping him awake long enough to rescue him, despite how hurt she was.

When she arrived back to the tunnels, it was clear that she’d lost a lot more blood than before. She was on the ground, pale, and she clearly hadn’t been able to make it out. She’d clearly fallen on the way.

In a blur, she was at her side. She then got her gently on her back. That’s when she saw how injured she was.

“Katherine,” she called. “Wake up, Katherine.” She took her jacket off, using it to apply pressure to her heavily bleeding lower stomach. “Come on. Open your eyes for me. Elijah will probably kill me if you die. I need you to wake up for me.”

As she waited to see if she’d get a response, she debated on whether or not to feed her her blood. She wasn’t sure if it would work, considering last time she’d been human. She knew she was running out of time, though. She knew her breathing was very slow and shallow.

After not getting a response from her, she decided on a decision a few minutes later. Freya. Someone with magic.

When she woke up, she wasn't in the tunnels, nor injured anymore. And it appeared that her former enemy had lived. Since Freya was in the background, that meant she'd reunited with them. She was glad about that.

"Thank you, Katerina," he told her from where he sat on her bedside. "You helped save me. And you can thank Rebekah. She got you here for Freya to save you. Most likely to stay on Elijah's good side."

"You're welcome." She sat up in bed. "I forgave you on your deathbed, so I didn't want you dead. I'm happy to have helped."

"I guess we've both changed somewhat, then. Welcome back." He gave a smile, before saying, "If you want to see him, he's recovering. Freya cured him and Kol from Marcel's bite."

"I've always known he was a jackass, but this? What happened? I sent you to deal with him. Not get you all killed."

“All of this is a combination of his hatred for us all, as well as Davina’s death. But now, he’s a weapon against vampires and hybrids. Anyone even remotely half vampire. If I try reasoning with him again, he could end up killing me. And I have a daughter to raise. So, Rebekah’s gone to make him see some kind of sense. She’s the only one he doesn’t hate.”

"Congratulations," she told him, speaking of having a child. She then added, "It seems I've got an overdue chat to have with him then."

"I wouldn't ask that of you, Katerina. He's not your everyday enemy."

“No, but he’s been an enemy of mine for a long time. I killed vampires to prove a point. Defend the witches like Sophie. She was friend to me. And I knew Davina. I had to leave to avoid his punishment. I’m human with active Traveler magic now. He can’t hurt me like before. And weapon or not, he knows it would be a mistake to try. And maybe I can get him to leave you all alone. I know what it’s like to watch your daughter die. Mine my father tore from my arms found me, only to get bitten by Tyler. I wanted to save her, but decided to just honor her wish not to. She didn’t want me to have to give anything up to save her. She knew everything about me, including the hatred we had for each other. When it came to Nadia, I chose her over living. And I wanted to prove I could still be redeemed by honoring her wish. I knew it was what Elijah would’ve done for me.”

“I’m sorry for your loss, Katerina. Even if it was quite a few years ago. If you think you can help, do it. I know nobody can stop you, once you put your mind to something. Just don’t get yourself killed. I wouldn’t hear the end of it from Elijah.”

"Thanks, but it's no one's fault but his."

        She got to her feet.

He watched her, as she left, and hoped she'd be okay. He didn't wish her dead. His vengeance and hatred had died when she had.

Rebekah had already left, when he got another angry visitor.

“Really, Marcel!?” she yelled, and somehow tossed him magically, before pinning him against a wall. He could only assume she’d just found out about his attempt at killing half the Mikaelsons. Knowing her long enough though, he assumed she was mostly angry at him almost killing Elijah. He didn't know how she was human though, much less how she had magic.

"Look, Katherine, I was lashing out from Davina's death. She didn't deserve to be used just to get rid of Lucien. He made himself into a weapon before I did, but I'm smarter. I know I crossed the line, but someone had to pay," he tried to reason. He'd always known her to be reasonable, after all. That way, before she'd made him an enemy. But he wasn't in the business of killing humans.

"That doesn't excuse your actions. Elijah left a few years ago, but I'll always defend him. He'd do the same for me."

"Aren't you tired of being at his side? All he's ever done is leave you for Klaus every century. Besides, everything any of them touches dies. I got out. You should too, before it's too late."

"I'll admit it's always been difficult, but that was before Klaus and I buried the hatchet. And before he and I both changed. My daughter found me and then got bitten. I know what it's like to lost her. And to be angry at the world. But this isn't right. And she wouldn't want this."

"I did all of this for her," he defended.

"No. This was nothing but vengeance against whoever killed her. And even when we hated each other, I never would've come after their entire family. I never would've tried to kill any of them, either. And if you wanted to win Rebekah, you lost your chance. She may not like me, but I know her well enough. She could never be with someone willing to wipe out her family. I learned my lesson too late. Elijah has always been right. Family should always come first. Even if you hate them at times."

"Maybe so, but I'd do it again. I'm defending her, alive or not. I don't care that the ancestors had a part in it. Kol killed her. Then they used her to make Lucien killable. The rest of them were just in my way. I took the chance. I had to try."

She finally let him magically go.

"I came here to persuade you to leave them alone. He has a daughter. They luckily have each other. They don't want a fight if they don't need to, but I'm not afraid to do it for them. I share your grief for her and my own daughter, but killing them is off limits. Also, I'm here to tell you to leave. They may be okay with it, but I'm not. This compound is their family home. Not yours. Leave and never return. Take your loyal friends with you. You're a traitor to me. You don't deserve this place. Take it or leave it. This is the only mercy I'm ever giving you."

        "Why? After everything I've done."

"Respect for Davina's memory. Be grateful I have the will to find some kind of mercy for you. You could say some of my daughter rubbed off on me. Now, leave. I want you gone by the time I come back with them."

He watched as she left, and knew this was his only chance to leave. Otherwise, she'd kill him. He had to take it if he didn't want to die. And so, he did what she offered. He left without looking back, bringing whoever was still loyal to him with them.

About half an hour later, they'd all settled into the compound thanks to Kat. She'd even found a guest room to stay in. And so, they got their home back and a semi-happy ending. After all, their family was intact and saved, but some of them would semi miss Marcel.
