All she knows is she’s trapped inside what looks like a portion of a hospital. It doesn’t look like there’s a way out, because of being trapped there. When she finds out that she’s not alone and that Rebekah succeeded in taking the cure, can she keep her alive long enough for help to arrive? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ A human Kat woke up, injured from a terrible prison world she’d just escaped from. Debris was on her from the ceiling, as she coughed, looking around at where she was. That’s when she realized she was in a hospital, but she was trapped in a tiny portion of it. Then she saw a familiar blonde a small distance away. They were both in a hallway of the hospital. “Rebekah?” she called. Then, after a moment, she painfully got to her feet, heading over to her and kneeling at her side. Despite what the blonde Original had always thought of her, Kat had never despised or hated her. She’d always felt sorry for her. “Rebekah, can you hear me?” She rested a hand on the side of her face, before looking at her wounds. She could see blood on either side of her head, a lower stomach wound, and an open thigh artery. It was very clear that Rebekah had succeeded in taking a cure some time after she’d died. She felt for where Rebekah’s phone might be and found it. She then pulled it out, before taking her jacket off. She then pulled the piece of wood out of her open thigh artery, before tying her jacket around the wound. She then gently took Rebekah’s jacket off, using it to apply pressure to her lower stomach. Then she grabbed Rebekah’s phone, calling one of them, as she kept pressure on the now human’s lower stomach wound. “Klaus,” she greeted. “This isn’t the time, Katerina,” he replied, before she could say anything else. “Let me guess. You’re looking for your sister?” “Where is she?” Klaus inquired. “I escaped a prison world tonight. When I woke up, here she was. We’re in a part of a hospital. I don’t know where. You should hurry, though. I’ve got my jacket around her leg for right now, but it’s an artery. I don’t know how long ago she’s been like this. I’ll try my best to keep her alive, but I’m not in the greatest shape after that prison world,” she explained. “Just try, Katerina. I’m on my way,” was all he could say, and knew he had to work quickly to find them. Otherwise, he could lose his baby sister sooner rather than later. Kat hung up and put the phone in her back pocket. “I’ll be right back, blondie. Don’t die on me,” she told her. She then entered a room close by, before rummaging through it for what she needed. About ten minutes later, Kat came back, kneeling at her side again, and started to tend to her wounds. She knew what she was doing, since she was supposed to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a doctor or nurse. Life just hadn’t given her that opportunity back then. Her pregnancy had changed that for her. And then the slaughter spree of everyone had changed it even more. She rested a hand on the side of her face again, once she’d finished tending to her wounds. “You’re gonna be okay. I just need you to fight a little longer. Alright? Klaus is on his way. He’s going to find us and then you’re going to live. I know you well enough to know that you don’t want to die in a hospital. Especially, not like this.” Eventually, Klaus found them. When he got an exit made, he headed for them. She was still by Rebekah. He knew now what Katerina had meant by her not being in the best of shape, but right now, he cared more about his sister than Katerina. “Thank you,” he told his former doppelganger. “I’ll be back for you as soon as I can,” he added. He wasn’t going to leave Katerina behind, but he wasn’t two people. He couldn’t grab both of them at the same time. A moment later, he blurred off with Rebekah. The human sat herself against a close by wall, her vision going gray. She felt so very weak, she couldn’t get her own self out of there, despite Klaus having created an exit. She knew he’d be back, though. She just didn’t know if it would be in time to save her. She knew she’d lost a lot of blood. She still was. She’d had to deal with some vampires in the prison world. A human up against vampires was never a good combination. She knew there was a chance of her dying, but she’d be happy if Rebekah lived. About fifteen minutes later, Klaus came back to get Katerina out of there. In a blur, he was at her side. He knew she’d lost a lot of blood. He also knew she was in terrible condition. He slid an arm behind her, pulling her gently into his arms, his other under her legs, and got to his feet with a barely awake and quite pale Katerina in his arms. Then he blurred off to get her taken care of. He had to at least try to save her. It was what Elijah would’ve wanted. Besides, it had been many years since she’d last died. He didn’t hate her anymore. Right now, all he wanted was to try and save her. When she woke up, she found herself on a bed at the compound in New Orleans. She felt healed. She also didn’t feel weak anymore, which was a good sign. She assumed, knowing all of the Originals, Freya had eventually reunited with them. After all, she knew Quarter witches couldn’t magically heal. Freya could, though. She slowly sat up in bed, which was when she saw Klaus. “My older sister, Freya, healed both of you. You’re both going to live. Thank you, Katerina. You kept her alive long enough for me to find her. You were selfless, and I’m glad you decided to be.” “It wasn’t really a decision to make. I never hated or despised her. I’ve always liked her. I’d never want something to happen to her. So, does this mean you finally decided to forgive me?” “I forgave you after your last death. I don’t hate you anymore.” He went and sat on her bedside. "It's time we started a new book. Don't you think?" She gave a smile. "I'd love that." Eventually, after months of being at the compound, she and Klaus finally found love in each other. © 2025 Datherine100 |
