my son

my son

A Poem by David Dodsworth
"

dedicated to my son when he was a child

"

I look at your face and see myself, like an image captured in time.
The trees you climb and games you play, bring back the memories of yesterday
For i was once a child like you, and i liked to do the things you do
You have given me a pride as i have never felt before, you are Innocence and intelligence and i admire you as i watch you learn
My love for you is a love i never knew, and that only a father can truly feel
tread the path of life with caution as danger lurks in the shadows, and even the strongest and wisest can choose the wrong path
enjoy the chilhood days as they slowly but surely pass you by
i watch you sleep you look like an angel, i cry tears of joy and thank god for the gift of a son

The Shadow On My Shoulder
There is an angel who sits upon my shoulder who goes by the name of Death...
