A love lost

A love lost

A Poem by David Dodsworth

I Feel emotions I have not felt before

A warmth in my soul as I knock on your door

The glint in your eyes and the look on your face

The beat of your heart in an endless embrace

Could this be love I am starting to feel

It seems so right and it feels so real

I want to grow old with you by my side

A ring on your finger and now you’re my bride

Your hand in mine as we walk down the street

A smile on your lips and my heart skips a beat

You gave me a child you gave me a life

Now you are a mother and you are a wife

But now we don’t talk we have nothing to share

Nothing in common only despair

My heart is bleeding your love has gone cold

The child is growing and I fear getting old

Now the emotions are sadness and pain

As a love that we had is now all in vain
