Spring

Spring

A Poem by David Dodsworth

The smell of spring is in the air

As I lay down without a care

Watching clouds up in the sky

Different shapes they pass me by

One’s a rabbit, one’s a dog,

The big one over there’s a frog

I see a dragon and a bear

Look real close, there all up there

The rivers full, so is the brook

A magpie fighting with a rook

The woods are now a sea of blue

I love the spring I really do

Crocuses and daffodils

A yellow blanket on the hills

Lambs are jumping playing games

Each spring different, no two the same

I love the images you have painted in this poem. I feel like it would fit perfectly in a children's book, like Dr. Seuss, with all your wonderful descriptions illustrated on the pages. Very nice writing :)

I truly love this. When my great grandpa kept me when I was little we would ride a mule down to the chapel where my children are. We would come back and lie on a blanket and laugh at the shapes. So when I had babies we did that, my daughter and I did it one of the last summer days. I always tried to get my husband to go to the river bank and lay on a blanket laughing at shapes. I am not much fun I guess people always let me know. Oh well I can go alone. lol
