Black and Blue

Black and Blue

A Poem by David-Tyler

The stars are hanging over my head
As my feet are dangling above my bed
I can't see nothing but black and blue
This life has left me beaten and bruised

Across the way is the view of Polaroids
I was so crazy about this one girl I met
Dropped out, got a job, thought we were set
Now I'm saying sorry, swinging from the ceiling

Pinned a note to my chest
Penned an apology to my best
Saying "I loved you since I first saw you"
I know it's typical, but it's true

I'd tear my heart out and give it to her
I had given up on love, she made me a believer
Tear drops sound like broken piano keys
Accented by my feet hitting the bed

All I left behind was a pack of cigarettes
Tucked behind my bottle of cold, cold liquor
And a lifetime of sweet memories turned bitter
Tainted by the sight of rope tied around my neck

Oh my gosh. What a sad and poignant poem. You have covered it all, when it comes to losing someone we love to our own mistakes. The ending caught me off guard and this line "Tear drops sound like broken piano keys" creates the perfect picture of tears that I can hear when I read the words. Cheers!

Woah.
Very vivid imagery, I just hope it was for the sake of art.
Well written.
