I'm not sure what to say about this poem. It's mighty brief.
And it made me laugh out loud.
I clicked on the link to this poem from the New Writing spotlight section on the Writing tab, and as I had just finished reading some very sobering, emotional material that made me do some thinking about life and the possibility of life after loneliness, I was prepared to read something equally melancholy and heartstring-thrumming.
I froze a little bit after reading the last line.
And then I had to go back and glance over the poem again to make sure I had read it correctly. Thank the heavens that it was only three lines long; I went back and read it a third time. I'd like to think that I'm not usually this slow at understanding things, but I enjoyed the read nonetheless. I literally laughed out loud and choked on my pink lemonade when I came to the Author's Note at the end.
You have a remarkable sense of humor, let me tell you.
It /reads/ flatly, a stoic voice, somber and steady. But the humor is a rollicking-rolling one, and I definitely appreciated this poem you published here. I'm glad I decided to click on the link - this brightened my day immeasurably, and I give you a thousand thanks for the laugh!
I hope you continue to share more of your work with the rest of us, so happy writing and a good rest of the day to you! :D

Read it through 3 times hunh? wowzer! methinks most people won't read it once!
I have to echo Mina that I laughed out loud! I remember "pet rocks" and their little cardboard homes. Now that I think about it, that probably said a lot about a coming state of affairs...no time to nurture something living...I won't go on and on. Loved this.

I loved ol' "rocky"

I've immortalized him in a certain state
he's now a paperweight!
