In the Chimney

In the Chimney

A Poem by Davide

I was once friends with a girl

She told me that she lived in a terrible place

A haunted place

I laughed at her

I told her that she was a girl

And girls usually got afraid of nothing

And everything

She looked at me intensely

She then told me to stay in her room

She said that then I would believe her

I still laughed

I.  “ I want you to see you, and I want to play with you”

Her room was fairly large

There were dolls on her shelves

Old dolls

And brown walls

And her slim bed

Went right up under a chimney

II.Go to sleep little child”

The room was odd somehow

It didn’t seem like the rest of the house

It was colder

And dirtier

As it got colder I felt sleepier

And I laid down in her bed

III. “I’m going to eat you alive”

My head went up under the chimney when I laid down

There were whispers and laughter

It was coming from up inside of the chimney

I looked up and I saw a boy

It was so dark I could barely see his face

But I could tell that he was smiling

IV.    "You will be happier then you know”

His jaw opened up long enough to reach his chest

And he started to laugh

And then the room started to shake

And there were whispers in the air

“I will make her my friend

I will lick at her soul

I want her

I want her teeth

I want her teeth in my stomach

And then I will come for you

This is my room

This is her room

This is our room

I’m going to eat you alive”
