To Lie In A Caravan

To Lie In A Caravan

A Poem by David Lewis Paget

Driving in starlight

The day long behind us,
Signposts of certainty
Set to remind us,
Grey is the washed-out
Approach of the dawning…
   We lay in the caravan,
   Made love till morning.

We sat at the seafront
To watch the grey rollers
We saw careworn mothers
Behind their grey strollers,
Such is the love that
These lives have been born in…
   To lie in a caravan
   Make love till morning…
