I Am A Memory Within Reality

I Am A Memory Within Reality

A Poem by Dawn Jones

I am a memory within reality

Lost soul with no home to call my own

Loved once, and once alone

With nothing to show

But memory and tear stained cheeks

You see the front of a reality

Hollow in its hatred

Hurting beneath the scars

And yet cold, arrogant, and angry

Cynical angel with broken blackened wings

I fight

Battle weary and fallen

Too broken to fly home

My shield shattered

My sword dull

Let go of illusion

Risk pain again or shut down

Shut them out and find comfort within solitude

An eternity of alone

With nothing left to lose

Hey sweetheart, this is really good. There are a few really great lines here in this piece:

Loved once, and once alone

But memory and tear stained (tear-stained) cheeks

Cynical angel with broken blackened wings

And my only suggestion is above in ( ). You did a very good job with this. I am sorry that I missed you last night, you were obviously on your game. I was sleeping blissfully when you wrote this! Amazing work here.

Amazing. And that's all I can say about it. It shows everything you wanted to show perfectly - you are the perfect imagining of what a writer should be :) Well Done,

Cynical angel with broken blackened wings --- great imagery.

A memory without reality - hmmm....what a concept.

Yep. Has the Piscean fallen angel thang.

There's a new well of energy in the wilderness. But one isn't looking for it. Instead of resisting or lamenting the void, one IS the Void. The cap comes from the paradox of being greater fullness via embracing or allowing greater emptiness. There is this essence of Buddhism that nicely parallels quantum physics wherein one micro-discovers stuff is made of no-thing-ness. Difference is between subjective and objective implications/experience. "Omnijectivity" is a provocative coinage for dissolving subject/object boundary.

The word "alone" shortens "all one" -- but not the oneness of meshing w/impossibly half-baked others, the oneness of the Ground that all figures arise from.

Memory is a mysterious diaphanous quality, embracing every reflective tendency of the human mind. Perhaps we sometimes recall another life, a bardo, or perhaps we recall Unborn transcendence and grok the paradox of sages.

Your poem eloquently delineates the archetypal theme of the lost soul in the wilderness, a classic story vis-a-vis our shared senses of identities.

I'm reminded of the paradoxical lines from the rad guru Adi Da, wherein the "I" has tapped an "I" of Spirit: "The worlds have made no home for me/I am the Heart that shouts them."

its the loss of love that brings hoplessness and a very particular type of void that leads to this feel of emptyness and pain...you have wonderfully captured all these feelings and emotions in your piece...
a very poweful piece!

Crisp, beautiful words, about pain and loss of love. My favorite part was the second stanza:
I fight
Battle weary and fallen
Too broken to fly home
My shield shattered
My sword dull

Nice job.

I can feel the hopelessness in this piece. You've put a spotlight on it. I think the second half of this poem is the strongest but the entire piece is well written.

I so love this one, Dawn. It speaks to me to my core since I lost my soulmate to cancer and I sometimes feel I will now have an eternity of alone. At one time I felt battle weary, fallen and broken. This is a very powerful and emotional poem. From my heart to yours, thank you.
