![]() An Outrageous FaithA Story by Dayran![]() Eternal Love![]() The historian … H.G. Rawlinson … in his text on the history of India … recounts an incident during the days when India practiced … Sati … or the ritual burning of widows at the funeral pyre of the husband. A wife inquires with the returning soldiers … from the war … as to her husband's fate. ' Dead ' … comes the reply … ' Fallen facing the enemy? ' she asks again. They nod. ' Okay I can't stay here and chat ' she fusses … ' I've got to go ' … otherwise he'll chide me for being late.'
The Brit colonial administration banned the practice … and brought the Indic presence of mind down to earth. It must have been a wonder to the Indics … perhaps a quaint notion … that the human physical body … is fundamentally an instrument of life … and should be accorded every right for preservation … based on the sanctity of life. It made clear that … the life of a wife is not tied to that of her husband … notwithstanding the incredible power of faith … that it brings to a relationship.
Psychologists would probably comment on the practice … by referring to the omission of all other facts … in relation to a husband wife relations. If a person has been brought up to think that's right … and all their ancestors have done the same thing … then obviously … the individual's psyche is conditioned to accept that as normal. In banning Sati … the Brits … would have dealt a death blow to previously existing notions of love and duty … on the Indic sub-continent.
In the separation that the ex-wife and I went through … I figure we were in some way ratifying the Brit view … and today the world's view … on the sanctity of life … and the rights of the partners in a marriage. Love is not something to be fussed over … and stored like salted plums in solution. It may be the well of life … in a lifetime that's founded on its nourishment and tenderness. But an individual needs to be aware of the basic enthusiasm and sunshine … like water for plants … that the life force needs for its growth.
However it appears … that our societies may have found a way to shore up the sagging love between couples … in the founding of same sex relations. It has a curious feel to it … as if the widowed partner might commit Sati … on the death of his lover. Its a love with the same strong overtones … of two lives entwined in a promise of eternity. And a closer look at the relations is very revealing.
Someone who devotes themselves completely to their lover … would find a fulfillment in the affair that's very gratifying. Even a quarrel takes … making up and making out … to new heights of pleasure. And a man does have many issues … in his love of the male mystic … that needs sorting out. Its all rolled together in one relationship of same sex … and that is perhaps all the issues in an entire world of love. The love partner becomes the world.
For the one who gives all … the other offers total contentment … in a situation that is mutually assuring. However the integrity placed on such a relationship would be expected to be total … and one that does not deny the opportunity to do so … in the context of work … society … and the universal plan for life's fulfillment. It brings new meaning to the term … ' the world's an oyster ' between two lovers … who find themselves in that relationship.
When the Brits banned Sati … they left open the door … to a then clandestine affair between men … that remained unspoken in open society. At least not until the present times … when the issue became a topic of greater social interaction. No doubt … in the experience of the jivan … in a life of reincarnated souls … it would find the ultimate ambiance … for a relationship of the same sex. Perhaps being a gay in Paris … or an Avalla … in Kerala. I have no doubts that … the relationship includes elements of self love … inherent in the creation of man. It leaves the issue of health … and a proper management of the relationship … in the hands of man himself.
A man or woman in such a relationship … encounters the full criteria for a life of perfection … and creates the discovery of how that spells out in a relationship in the world. From the days when God might have said … ' Go forth and multiply ' … he seems to be saying today … ' Find the perfection you seek and do it not because you can but wisely.' What that means to me … is to understand fully the implications of such a relations … before I make a commitment to it. That would be in the nature of an eternal love.
My view therefore has come to rest on the belief that … like Sati … a same sex love devotion … is made in the heavens … not on earth. I am therefore gratified with the perfect timing science has made of planets in the universe … that may support life much like the world. And I'm pretty certain … that a man like me … may live on the planet Kepler-186F in the constellation Cygnus. I had always thought that the constellation Cygnus … spelled in reverse … is an acronym for Sun Galaxy … which refers to the solar system. I believe I might be in eternal love with that one.
Sati may be banned in the world … but we have revived something similar. For the man who is widowed by the death of his lover … he will surely perish himself in the fire of his gnosis. For such are the ways of a love that is perfect. It lives for each other … and will not otherwise. It does not leave behind a memory … for it grew out of a dream and expectation to be real … and I seriously doubt it will content itself by going back to the dreams of its memories.
I figure life realizes the promise of self love … and I believe it is working at achieving that in our experience … in the physiology of the advanced specie of the future. That I expect might be a hermaphrodite being … with a fully developed intellect … and a social manner … that unites the male and female qualities in one individual. I expect that we are at this time … in training for that event. And I believe he will be the master of the universe.
Its strange to find … as I'm making these suggestions … that in approaching the issue of love this way … I find my lover walking away from me … in the dreams of my visions. And as I sit back … in stored expectations … he walks back to me. And it appears to me that its always been that way.
