When It Falls

When It Falls

A Poem by Dayzee

You let me slip through your fingers,

never taking me in your hands.

You make me promise to stay forever,

and turn around to run,

so you'll never see that I'm coming undone.

You tell me you love me,

barely a whisper as you walk away,

asking me to believe you without a doubt,

without ever having to be there to answer my call,

or comfort me as the pain causes me to cry out.

You promised to accept me,

telling me that we are only as sick as our secrets,

declaring me a most desirable disorder...

continuing to deny me that compassion..

leaving me to sickness, witholding my only cure.

You gave me a single long stemmed rose,

and a single neatly written promise,

"I will love you til the last petal falls"

turning to leave me alone with my thoughts.

but honey, what happens when they are all gone?
