This is how I love you

This is how I love you

A Poem by Deacon Kane
"

This is how I love you was one of my first attempts to write a love poem and was inspired by a girl I had a real deep attraction for when I was younger.

"
This is how I love you

This how I love you,
with the love the birds
afford the sky,
with the patience the sea freely imparts to lady tide,
this is how I love you,
when words fail me,
when roses fail to bloom,
this is how I love you,
with a heart that speaks in endless volumes of its devotion.
This is how I love you,
with the worship an artist brings to every portrait,
to every marble effigy,
like Michelangelo gave to Venus,
I give you me,
with hands and heart,
eye and soul,
this is how I love you,
past weariness and dark despair
when pain has left me bare,
even then I declare
sober in my thoughts how I love you.
Yet such heady,
staggering,
alcoholic love,
addictive,
intoxicating,
this is how I love you,
despite anger,
noxious in my hate,
Angry bitter words hurled at all in sight,
despite this my weakness I see,
I see you in your entirety,
six senses filled with the sight
and touch
and taste of you,
both damsel and queen,
this is how I love you,
to all absurdity,
this I say is how I love you,
a little clearer every single day.
