Father

Father

A Poem by DeadDreamer

The first man I should have loved

turned into the one I feared the most.

How does one lay a hand on a little girl

so bright eyed and full of new hope

now with sad eyes that weep like the sky in the spring.

He taught her fear. He was fear.

Her nightmares were the moments she was awake.

Reality became torture. Torture became life.

As the nights dragged on, so did the scars

along her leg like roads on the earth

leading to nowhere but beginning everywhere.

Confidence was foreign.

Such a strange combination of letters.

Insecurity became all she ever knew.

The first man I needed to protect me

turned into the one I needed protection from.

This poem is very dark, sad. I can tell it came from the heart, from a dark and scarred place deep inside you. Overall, it is written well and I can relate to your words. I hope things are better and going well for you. :)
