Heroin

Heroin

A Poem by Dylan Rhodes

Deaf, Blind and Dumb
How good this feeling has become
A little pinch followed by a life of numb
It just doesn't last long enough
__________________________

Chills... the only feeling in my spine
Father, why'd we break?
My health only elevates into decline
Father... how did we break?
Now I love to exemplify my hate

A monkey on his back won't make short of a politician with a gun
In a burning cornfield; the author: A smiling sun
Yet she still loves me with every pill in my cup
I see her in the mirror as I search for hope
Cornered by her ability to cope and overcome
With everything I wish I had become
What'll it take to get through to me?
Too great of a tolerance,
One that will set me free

A seal in shark-infested waters
A flower that's anticipating its wilt
Hex is what they call me, the king of falter
With a heart as black as riverbed silt

My perfect circle
My cherished kin
My browning purple
My Heroin
