The Hills That Seem So Large

The Hills That Seem So Large

A Poem by DeandreSugandhi
"

A poem about existential crisis.

"

A rabbit pops out between the grass

On the hills that seemed so large.

The lions roar

The rhinos charge

The birds soar

And the snakes bite;

While the rabbit hides in its nest,

Conscious but satisfied.

The other rabbits could run fast

Hunt keen, or eat much

Sneak smooth, or listen sharp

Attract loads, or think wise

Live long, or talk smart.

Surely, the rabbit can run

Hunt, eat

Hide, hear

Reproduce, think

Survive, and socialize

For it is a rabbit just as much as the rest.

Perhaps that can explain

The rabbit's long and bothered face.

Does it matter that I can kill a roach with ease,

Since I was born with a foot,

That can kill a roach with ease?

Or just like a lantern is a slate,

And a slate is a lantern,

Am I the rabbit,

And the rabbit, me?

Now the hopeful men can rest

Rummaging through the rabbit's mind.

For it knows that its thoughts

Hold no answer;

To the hills that seemed so large.

we are very much like the rabbits...can have all different personalities, accomplish many different things...

i like how you reused phrasing as lead-ins to succeeding lines....
there is really good movement in this poem...reproducing lines that satisfy the reader.
