Tug of War

Tug of War

A Poem by D. Earl Barnes

The light,
It creeps.
Tugging at my clothes
With its warm gentle hand.

The shadows grow long
Without warning,
Behind me they stand.
Letting time bleed
Only becoming stronger.

The darkness,
It creeps.
Surrounding me
Leaving me longing for the sun.

The passing of a day nicely described.

The longing for the sun. I do understand this need. The poem told of shadows and the bleeding of life. We will bleed often and the shadows are part of us. I did like the ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Many people face this same problem. Wishing for the lightness of the heart but finding they are walking around in darkness. This is the time to step out and ditch those things dragging one down, shoot for the sun. Valentine
