An Empath's Prayer

An Empath's Prayer

A Poem by Debra Stevens Edwards (debby)

An Empaths Prayer

I feel the pain of others I fell it in my soul
I am tired now; it has begun to take its toll.

Weight of the pain of others is a heavy load
Youve given me this task but Im on overload.

I do what I can Lord but It never seem enough,
How can I be more effective the pain is so rough?

I leave it in your hands Lord and bow to your will
Knowing you will provide the strength needed to fulfill.

The task set before me with humble gratitude to you,
May I honorably serve you now and my whole life through?
                Amen

This is a really good analogy of how it feels to carry the burdens of others. I have had to learn to release those burdens or they weigh so heavily on me that I can't stand it.

I love your last lines:

The task set before me with humble gratitude to you,
May I honorably serve you now and my whole life through?

Just a couple of minor typos is all I see here. Otherwise, a great write. Heartfelt and candid.

Simply beautiful..I feel like this some times while we are trying to get our church back on its feet after the last pastor ran out on over two hundred thousand dollars worth of debt..It seems there is not enough being done yet our bodies say we are so tired..He is able though so we just keep on trying and praying for a miracle..God bless..I know how you feel..love and God be with you and the girls..Valentine

Cute. The prayer format is different, I've only ever seen people MENTION prayer, not speak in prayer. Lovely poem. :)
