Panic Attack

Panic Attack

A Poem by Typhoid Kelsey
"

I woke up in the middle of the night having a panic attack for the first time in years.

"

My heart won't slow-it's killing me

My lungs won't go-I cannot breathe

In the night

don't remember waking

Such a fright

sweating and shaking

I wasn't having nightmares.

Things creak

around and shadows tend to

sneak around and I wasn't having nightmares.

Things creak

around and shadows tend to

sneak around but I wasn't having nightmares.

Smothered up-these sheets are choking

Covered up-heart beats are stoking

Thought-up fear

for no good reason

Interfere

with my mind's treason

I wasn't having nightmares.

Things creak

around and shadows tend to

sneak around and I wasn't having nightmares.

Things creak

around and shadows tend to

sneak around but I wasn't having nightmares.
