Star Cross’d Romeo

Star Cross’d Romeo

A Poem by Floydina White

My heart aches like a thousand wounds

I can hardly hear above the sounds

Of my deftly beating heart

And from the start

I knew it was you.

You help me through

My darkest days

My mind, it plays

The stealthiest tricks

And so it picks

You to be my all.

And so I fall

Into a helpless state

It must have been fate

To bring us here.

And though I fear

The future and all it brings

My heart still sings

When I think of you and I

And though I might cry

When you’re not around,

The slightest sound…

Myself I’ve found

Time and time again

Wishing that the pain

Of separation and absence

Will no longer be a hindrance

That separates our hearts.

I pledge a vow

For you I shall

Do anything I can

To make you understand

It’s you and me

Together perfectly

In this state of bliss

I’d be much amiss

Without a tender kiss

From my sworn love.
