The Struggle

The Struggle

A Poem by Deidara

Adrift among the ocean blue
Afloat the gentle turquoise sea
Awash the water filled with brine
He's quickly running out of time

Gazing at the somber sky
He hears the seagulls piercing cry
Wishing he had wings to fly
Laying his head back he gives a sigh

The wind begins to pick up speed
The waters churn a frothy mess
The sun goes black into the night
The moon is rising

Suddenly he's back in room 4-B
The students laugh at his worn out tee
pushing, tripping, beating him
till his vision is obscured by tears

The tide is picking up its pace
The waves grow large and bash his face
arms are flailing all around
feet are searching for the ground

The waves of loneliness bring him down
His head goes under, he's about to drown
his lungs are gasping not for air
but for the friends that were not there

And as he struggles to stay alive
He hears haunting whispers from the deep
"rest your head and close your eyes"
"and join us in eternal sleep"
