You May Be A Star- What If?

You May Be A Star- What If?

A Poem by Demetri J
"

The first in a series, asking questions and challenging the typical perceptions of life as we know it.

"
Have you ever fallen victim to sorrow and dismay?
Have you ever dealt with trauma, have you ever rued a day?
Have you ever felt a joy that brought tears to your eyes?
Have you considered what you do endears many lives?

Every fun time you have, every bad day you witness
Just might be the work of a writer at business
Your troubled times and the drama your living
May be viewed by a theater, permitted by ticket

You may be a star, spreading great cheer
To a laughing audience none of you hear
Or maybe the words you think to yourself
Are read by many and pile the shelves
Maybe all that you've known to love
Is just a fantasy viewed from above
You may be a star, held on a pedestal
Your life but a slot on a TV schedule

You may be a star, a figment in space
Brought alive by an actor who shares your face
You may be a star to a world in the distance
A work of fiction, your life nonexistent
So I challenge all those who skeptically mock,
If you doubt it's reality, prove that it's not...

Demetri, A very entertaining piece, very well written. I am accepting your friend request but must tell you that I have a few mental health disorders that prevent my from reading long stories. I lose focus and concentration and just can't understand the flow and wordplay. So if you send me read requests (which I prefer; I have a hard time keeping up with all of my friends' writes any other way) please send me poems and SHORT stories, OK? Nice to "meet you!" take care...dan

Wow, what an interesting perspective. Definitely food for thought! I have thought about things like this before. It's pretty humbling to fathom. To think that we are just mere pieces on the chess board of life :) Thanks so much for sharing :)

This morning as I was driving home from work, I thought of something profound. I never got a chance to write it in poetry form yet but, it was the idea that, everyone in this world was constantly wearing a costume. This costume shielded the true person within (the soul). We acted each role and lived moment by moment as someone in character 24/7. Only our inner selves knew what was shielded behind the mask. Only we the soul living knew the true motives and ideas of the character we chose to play. Reading this is like a confirmation, I believe God grants us signs if we take the time from the regiments of daily living to just stop and realize them. This is simply beautiful, I can relate to every single world you utter, and even before my morning drive from work, I have always imagined that each life was recorded and one day would be watched somewhere in the cosmos in heaven. Just reading what you wrote grants me the comfort in knowing that a similar idea exists within another soul. Very well done sir.

The rhyme is wonderful; it draws a reader in! But the concept is incredible. Honestly this poem should be an inspiration for anyone who feels especially down on their luck. Everyone has worth and is perfect and unique in their own, individualistic way! Just a wonderful write. I love it!

You bring up an interesting question that has probably been asked by others hundreds of times before. There is always a what if. Reality is, we deal with...what is. What if we could travel one hundred times the speed of light...could we go back in time? I think I know this much, the script of my life is not yet finished, I plan on writing the ending myself, hopefully not by accident.
I like your work, it's very insightful.
