Empathy

Empathy

A Poem by Moonflower

I saw you standing
with starlight eyes and
moon bathed skin,
A trembling pirouette
of dangling emotion
Comets in your eyes
skidded across the brilliance
of lustrous breath, bated
silence

I held your image

in my solitary grasp

fighting back the urge

to hold

your iridescent silohouette

The wind a dark and

howling lullaby

scraping at your

pink tinged

flesh

I had never felt beauty

held it in my

moist and simple

fingers

moving beneath

the shy, scar bitten illusion

I found those

liquid platelets

in your breath

a carousel of

broken dreams

Promises, shattered

A molded cartridge

of a wanted heart

How could I ever touch

those silken tresses

wrap my coiled fingers

around

flesh and bone

I watched

as you fled from the window sill,

breaking away from the

fractures of light

I couldn't see your face,

shadowed by the

streetlight glare

But I felt an emptiness

unlike any

lonliness that

had rendered me

speechless

immovable

beneath your awe struck

embrace

You never touched my hands

never held them in your

smooth, sanctified

carress

Return to me,

Dark prince

Patron of the Night

I cant believe how you said so much with so little words.
This is definitely a piece you should be proud of.

I love the reference to the stars, with 'starlight eyes' and further 'comets in your eyes'. Beautiful.
